Any Ideas?!

January 13, 2009

Hi Everyone!!!

Today.. I’m writing to ask a favor!  Is there a story you’ve seen on NewsChannel 5 that you’d like to see a follow-up on?  Or is something exciting going on in your neighborhood?

Soon, I’ll be heading out .. all over Northeast Ohio to find those kind of stories.. and I’d love to hear from you if you think something is “news-worthy”!

All you have to do is email me here at the station.. and I’ll get in touch with you!

Can’t wait to hear from you..and maybe meet you!

Stay warm!

Get ready…to get cozy!

January 9, 2009

Hi Everybody!  Well… I guess Mother Nature didn’t read my last post…she’s not giving us any breaks, yet!  She’s getting ready to send us another blast tonight!  I got to thinking…how to beat this round…and stay cozy…so I came up with something fun! There’s nothing better than a night in…friends/family…a movie…or board game…and some comfort food!   I have a favorite Mexican dip that I usually make for family gatherings and I thought I’d share it with you!

4 cans Hormel Chili with Beans

1 bunch of green onions

2 small cans of sliced olives

1 small package of Velveeta Cheese

1 package of cream cheese

1 bottle Tabasco Sauce

2 bags of your favorite Tortilla Chips

(serves about 6 people)

Heat oven to 375 degrees

This is soooo easy!!    Literally, dump everything in one medium sized oven friendly dish and cook until Velveeta and cream cheese melt… and everything stirs together smoothly.   Don’t be afraid to use the whole bottle of Tabasco…when everything cooks…it cooks the majority of the “hot” away, but still gives it a nice kick!

Obviously, chop the onions … and cut the Velveeta into small pieces … so everything mixes faster… but that’s it!

It should only take about a half hour in the oven before you’re done… but just make sure everything is melted before you serve…then, get your chips and dip away!!!

My Aunt Rose Ann made this a while ago…and it’s been a hit every time I’ve made it!

Enjoy…stay warm…be safe… and let me know if you like it!

Good Morning Cleveland…and Mother Nature!

January 8, 2009

Hi Everybody!  Hope you’re keeping warm…and safe!  What a crazy round of winter weather again, huh?!  Being on this new shift, driving is totally different.  At 3:30am the roads aren’t quite clear enough when Mother Nature decides to strike… the road crews are just getting started at that point, so it’s rough.   For the past year, driving in at 2:30pm snow and/or ice, for the most part, are history.  This morning was my first experience taking on that whipping wind, and build up of ice. ..in the middle of the night.  It was sort of eerie, but with patience (extra extra patience) I finally got to work!  Unfortunately, we’re a few weeks away from Spring…so I hope you all watch our See It First Forecasts…and do the same thing…take it slow…add extra time…bundle up…and be safe out there!  See you in the morning!  XOXO  Alicia

It’s a new year… and a new shift!

January 2, 2009

Hi Everyone!!!  It’s been a while since I wrote…and I’m sorry!  It’s been a busy time!  I was in the process of getting ready for a new shift, for the new year!  It’s official…I’m back with the Good Morning Cleveland team!  It’s been about a year or so since I left and went to the night shift.. for the 11pm news…as of January 1st, I’m back!  It’s a strange time frame for your body to get used to…actually…I’m waking up now at the same time I used to fall asleep…2am! I’m starting to feel the effects…so no laughing if I make any mistakes/bloopers until I get used to this!!  Until then, coffee and I will becoming fast friends!  I hope all of you had a wonderful holiday…and this new year brings many great things!!   I’ll see you Monday at 5am!!!  XOXOX  Alicia
